This course is predominantly flat terrain and is very walkable. 18 holes. The fairways are narrow and often tree lined. A water hazard comes into play on No.18, and there are bunkers sprinkled throughout the course. The greens are medium-sized, undulating and smooth. This very scenic course provides spectacular views of the mountains. The signature hole is 18, a 496-yard par 5 featuring an outstanding view of the Olympics. (360) 898-2560; (888) 898-2560.
Bayshore Golf Course: In Shelton. 3800 E. Hwy 3. Public.
This course is for all levels of players. 9 holes. Not overly long, but tight with small greens that are always in great condition. Bayshore has salt water in play. The course was voted one of the "Top 5" 9-hole courses in the state. It has two sets of tees for a challenging round of 18 holes. (360) 426-1271.
Lakeland Village Golf and Country Club: In Allyn. E. 200 Old Ranch Road. Semi-private.
27 holes. This facility has three nine hole courses that can be played in three eighteen hole combinations. Each course places a premium on shot accuracy. There are several out-of-bounds stakes lining the somewhat wide-open fairways. The greens are medium in size and speed. There are water hazards that come into play on several holes. Lake Cushman Golf Course: In Hoodsport. North 210 West Fairway Drive. Semi-private.
A beautiful course where all the greens are elevated. 9 holes. On most holes, there are out-of-bounds stakes lining both sides of the fairway. There are no sand bunkers, but you will find water hazards coming into play on a few holes. (360) 877-5505.
Lake Limerick Golf Club: In Shelton. E. 790 Saint Andrews Drive. Semi-private.
Very nice, scenic course. 9 holes. The tree-lined fairways are narrow, and some of the fairways are doglegs. You will encounter only one pond, and this pond can have a negative affect on your score! Choosing the right club is very important while playing this hole because there is little room for error. The greens are fast and undulating. There are additional sets of tees that can be used when playing an 18 hole round. Course is said to be demanding. (360) 426-6290.
Star Lake Community Golf Course: In Elma. W. Star Lake Drive. Private.
This 6 hole course is well cared for, and said to be quite challenging. Play it 3 times and you will have an 18 hole game! You need to belong to the Star Lake Community, or know someone there, to use this course. Low annual dues of $265 per year which includes the water, and the other amenities of Star Lake Community.
McCormick Woods Golf Course: In Port Orchard. 5155 McCormick Woods Drive, SW. Public.
We include this golf course because it is close by Mason County, and a first class course. 18 holes. This beautiful course was cut out of a former Christmas Tree farm and features tall firs and free-roaming deer. Ponds come into play on at least seven holes. This is a very popular course, and brings the occasional celebrity to play. "Golf Digest" voted this course the 10th "Best in the State" in 1995-96, and 5th best in 1997-98.
